We hear Vampire. We see Vampire movies. We imagine, draw, talk about them. Ever wondered about the reality in what we see or hear ?

Ever imagined that there is posibilty that there is a horror of the night named Count Dracula living somewhere in this wide world with his three brides walking the cursed land and nights and feasting on the blood of humans ? Ever wondered whether there is really a Van Hellsing removing the existing blood craving mostrosities that walk into the darkness as drain Blood like we drink water ? Ever thought of travelling to Transylvania in search of the truth about the Count who is reffered to the  Transylvanian-born Vlad III Dracula of Wallachia ? Does anyone even consider the real meaning of the name Dracula ?

Count Dracula is a fictional character, the titular antagonist of Bram Stoker‘s 1897 Gothic horror novel Dracula. Though this character holds a strong resemblence to a certain 15th century Romanian Prince, Vlad III the Impaler resulting in the worldwide confusion and question thus bringing up the dead from his sleep.

Dracula  truly stands for Son of the Dragon which I could probably say that not many of knew. The title Dracula was given to him as a countinuation to his heritage of upholding his father’s title, i.e. the name of Vlad II Dracul. The word “Dracul” means “the Devil” in modern Romanian but in Vlad’s day also meant “dragon” and derives from the Latin word “Draco”, also meaning “dragon”. The suffix “-lea” can be translated as “son of”. Thus as we see now the reality behind his name is not as we see it in today’s world. 

Now lets see. What made Vladd III Dracula the Impaler become such a famous figure in resemblence with Stoker’s count.

Impalement was the Counts preferred method of torture and execution. His method of torture was a horse attached to each of the victim’s legs as a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled, and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp; else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the anus and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mother’s chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake.

Death by impalement was slow and agonising. Victims sometimes endured for hours or even days. Vlad often had the stakes arranged in various geometric patterns. The most common pattern was a ring of concentric circles in the outskirts of a city that constituted his target. The height of the spear indicated the rank of the victim. The corpses were often left decaying for months.

This resulted in thus making the present day vampire out of the Old Vlad III. His methods were so agonising that the people looked at him as the Devil’s son and he is now well used in movies and novels as the blood sucking monster who had no heart.

There is only one thing to wonder now. Do they exist ? We know the reality but who knows ? Is there really someone in these troubled times who has lived through the ages of time watching the world as it changes and adapting to it un-noticed and yet be craving for human blood to start an empire of the undead ? Are we safe to walk the woods at nights without fear that we may be taking our last walk as humans and not corpses ? Is there really a possibility that one day Count Dracula for Transylvania shall rise again and bring forth his army from the dead to rule this world ?
